Facebook, 8 October 2026 (summarised and translated from Amharic) / View the original post
A Facebook post shared on 8 October 2026 included images said to show a recent drone strike on Almeda Textile Factory in Adwa. The Amharic post claimed the factory was preparing military uniforms and that vehicles carrying equipment, machinery and heavy weapons were targeted.
The evidence
A reverse image search using Google showed that the images had been shared before, in connection with earlier conflict-related events in northern Ethiopia.

The same image was traced to a post about an airstrike on 24 October 2021. This shows the image predates the alleged recent drone attack and is being reshared in a misleading context.
We also checked reputable news outlets, humanitarian monitoring sources and official public channels. None reported a recent drone strike on Almeda Textile Factory matching the claim.
Why it matters
Old conflict images shared as new can spread fear and anger about attacks that did not happen at the time claimed. In a region still recovering from war, posts like this can raise tensions between communities and make it harder for people to trust real reports when they matter most. Before sharing images of an attack, check when they were first published.
Conclusion
The images do not show a recent drone attack on Almeda Textile Factory in Adwa. They were shared during earlier conflicts in northern Ethiopia, including in connection with an airstrike on 24 October 2021. The claim is MISLEADING.
