Positive Peace Ethiopia (PPE), in collaboration with ActionAid Ethiopia under the National Peace Weavers Project (SPA II), is seeking passionate and experienced trainers to deliver our Women’s Digital Safe Spaces Program. This transformative, free initiative empowers women across Ethiopia to become certified digital changemakers by equipping them with critical digital literacy, safety, and empowerment skills. As a trainer, you’ll play a pivotal role in fostering a safer, more inclusive digital world for women from all regions—Addis Ababa, Amhara, Oromia, Tigray, and beyond. About the Program
The Women’s Digital Safe Spaces Program is designed to address the unique digital challenges and opportunities women face today. Supported by ActionAid Ethiopia’s SPA II program, it aligns with PPE’s mission to promote peace, justice, and resilience through youth and women-led initiatives, including efforts like #defyhatenow Ethiopia. Trainers will deliver expert-led, hands-on sessions in a supportive, women-only environment, helping participants build confidence and skills to navigate the digital landscape. This nationwide program prioritizes inclusivity, reaching women in urban and rural areas, and accommodates diverse needs, such as limited internet access.
Trainer Responsibilities
As a trainer, you will deliver engaging, practical training sessions to women participants, covering one or more of the following eight key topics:
- Social Media Literacy
- Teach critical thinking to evaluate online content.
- Guide participants in identifying disinformation and understanding social media algorithms.
- Foster responsible online engagement.
- Online Safety and Harassment
- Train participants on strategies to report and address online abuse and harassment.
- Share proactive safety measures to create secure digital environments.
- Digital Security
- Instruct on password management, two-factor authentication, and recognizing phishing attempts.
- Equip participants to secure their accounts and devices.
- Data Privacy
- Explain data collection practices, user agreements, and privacy settings.
- Empower participants to control their personal data online.
- Digital Communication
- Teach professional email etiquette and strategies for building an online presence (e.g., LinkedIn).
- Guide participants in developing a personal digital brand.
- Online Research Skills
- Demonstrate advanced search techniques and source evaluation for credibility and bias.
- Train participants to use online databases effectively.
- Digital Marketing Basics & Storytelling
- Cover SEO, social media marketing, and content/email marketing.
- Teach digital storytelling, including creating videos, podcasts, and infographics.
- Understanding AI and Online Financial Literacy
- Introduce artificial intelligence and its global impact.
- Teach safe online banking, scam prevention, and personal finance management.
Trainers will:
- Deliver interactive, participant-centered sessions (virtual or in-person, depending on program logistics).
- Adapt content to diverse audiences, including those with limited digital or internet access.
- Foster a safe, inclusive learning environment that aligns with the program’s women-only focus.
- Collaborate with PPE to ensure high-quality training and measurable impact.
Who We’re Looking For
We seek experienced trainers from across Ethiopia who are passionate about digital literacy and women’s empowerment. Ideal candidates should have:
- Expertise in one or more of the program’s eight topics (e.g., digital security, marketing, AI, financial literacy).
- Training Experience: Proven ability to deliver engaging, accessible workshops or courses, ideally for diverse or women-focused audiences.
- Cultural Sensitivity: Understanding of Ethiopia’s diverse regional and cultural contexts to connect with participants nationwide.
- Commitment to Empowerment: Passion for fostering safe digital spaces and advancing women’s leadership.
- Technical Skills: Comfort with virtual training platforms (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams) and basic digital tools.
- Accessibility Awareness: Ability to accommodate participants with limited internet or language barriers (e.g., providing offline resources or multilingual support).
