Positive Peace Ethiopia, in partnership with ActionAid Ethiopia, is seeking a highly qualified and experienced consultant/trainer to design and deliver the Youth Training in Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding.

Background

Positive Peace Ethiopia is committed to fostering sustainable peace, social cohesion, and youth leadership across Ethiopia. As part of this mission, and in collaboration with ActionAid Ethiopia, we are launching a targeted capacity-building initiative for young Ethiopians. The selected consultant will play a pivotal role in equipping the next generation of peace leaders with practical tools to transform conflicts and contribute to community-level peacebuilding.

About the Training Program

The Youth Training in Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding is a 2-day intensive, hands-on program designed for young Ethiopians aged 18–30. The training will focus on building core competencies in conflict transformation, dialogue facilitation, and community mediation through highly participatory and experiential learning methods.

Scope of Work and Responsibilities

The consultant/trainer will be responsible for the following:

• Developing a comprehensive, contextually relevant curriculum and training materials tailored to the Ethiopian youth context.
• Designing and facilitating a 2-day intensive training program using interactive and participatory methodologies, including role plays, simulations, case studies, and group exercises.
• Delivering the training in a professional, engaging, and inclusive manner that promotes active participation and practical skill acquisition.
• Providing post-training support materials (e.g., participant handbook, resource toolkit) to ensure sustained learning.
• Submitting a final training report, including participant feedback, key outcomes, and recommendations for future programming.

Total consultancy duration: 10–15 working days (including preparation, delivery, and reporting).

Qualifications and Requirements

We are looking for a consultant who meets the following criteria:

• Advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in Peace and Conflict Studies, International Relations, Development Studies, Law, Social Sciences, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of proven professional experience in designing and delivering training on conflict resolution, peacebuilding, mediation, or dialogue facilitation.
• Demonstrated expertise in using participatory training methodologies (role plays, simulations, interactive sessions) with youth groups.
• Strong understanding of the Ethiopian socio-political context and experience working with diverse youth populations is highly desirable.
• Excellent facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to create a safe and inclusive learning environment.
• Fluency in English and Amharic (both written and spoken) is mandatory.
• Ability to work independently, meet tight deadlines, and deliver high-quality outputs.
• Based in Ethiopia or available to travel to Addis Ababa for the training delivery.
